The Reasons Why Just Killing Cancer Cells Is Often of Little Help

While our research scientists have spent years trying to locate the gene responsible for cancer, it's important to realize that it is not bad genes that have caused the problem but simply because of the way we now live. Cancer is not a complex problem and there are simple solutions to reverse it but it needs a different approach than just eliminating cancer cells.
The reason why removing cancer doesn't work is because it doesn't address the reasons why it first grew and unless you do that, the cancer will only grow again but in some other area. Cancer is not caught; it develops over a period of time so because of our ineffective treatments you must do something about it yourself. Cancer develops because of bad diets and other lifestyle factors so common sense should tell you the first thing you do is change the food you have been eating that has contributed to the problem.
Cancer is always a disease of an immune system that's been weakened, mainly because of poor diets which has produced a favourable condition for cancer to form. It naturally makes sense that the only treatment worthy of serious consideration lies within the domain of changing your diet and eating food that's been designed for humans.
What we fail to realize is that our entire medical system is profit driven which is why our medicine is synthetic or man-made. A doctor won't tell you to change your diet because doctors aren't trained in nutrition. They are only trained in drugs or other profitable treatments. Yet there are a handful of doctors who are treating patients differently and having great success because they are addressing and correcting the reasons why it first appeared.
Someone with cancer needs to understand the healing power of nutritional therapy as well as the shortcomings of pharmaceutical drugs. Common sense should tell you that before you can cure a medical problem you have to remove the factors that first caused it. Anybody that doubts the efficiency of nutritional medicine hasn't taken the time to learn about it.
Cancer cells will grow rapidly in a body that contains high toxins, low oxygen, a high refined sugar intake and an acidic environment. Cancer cells would have no reason to carry on growing and spread if this environment was reversed. That is if you change the environment, you can cause the cancer stem cells to revert back into normal cells. This is the logical step in healing cancer. Any person treating cancer must understand this basic principle in order to be successful.
The most effective way to beat cancer or to avoid it is to build up or enhance your defences against the disease by alkalizing your body through the food you eat, remove all chemical toxins and introduce oxygen into the body through some exercise. That is basic.
Remember remission is not a cure, nor is just removing symptoms a cure and that's why our treatments today with their toxic drugs seldom work.

Nasopharyngeal Cancer

What is Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma?
Nasopharyngeal cancer is a type of head and neck cancer. Based on Wikipedia, it is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the nasopharynx (hind-part) of the nose. The nasopharynx is the upper part of the pharynx (throat) behind the nose. The pharynx is a hollow tube about 5 inches long that starts behind the nose and ends at the top of the trachea (windpipe) and esophagus (the tube that goes from the throat to the stomach). Air and food pass through the pharynx on the way to the trachea or the esophagus. The nostrils lead into the nasopharynx. An opening on each side of the nasopharynx leads into an ear. Nasopharyngeal cancer most commonly starts in the squamous cells that line the nasopharynx as indicated in the National Cancer Institute.
How to detect Nasopharyngeal Cancer?
Diagnosis for this disease can be a hard one to tell. I was diagnosed with this type of cancer and didn't even know that I had it. I suffered from acute sinusitis and had to in-turn go to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist who found a huge lump the size of a golf ball at the tip of my pharynx. I couldn't feel any discomfort because my sinuses were so inflamed.
I have researched via cancer.gov, that there are also other symptoms that you can feel as well that may be a sign of this type of cancer. These and other symptoms may be caused by nasopharyngeal cancer. Other conditions may cause the same symptoms. A doctor should be consulted if any of the following problems occur:
  • A lump in the nose or neck.
  • A sore throat.
  • Trouble breathing or speaking.
  • Nosebleeds.
  • Trouble hearing.
  • Pain or ringing in the ear.
  • Headaches.
Tests to take to determine if you have Nasopharyngeal Cancer
There are a series of tests that you can take to determine if you have this type of cancer. If you are going to the doctor with sinus issues and they take X Rays of the areas of your sinuses, you can't tell if you have cancer. An X Ray is only going to show limited areas of bone and tissue. It will not show the detail of your organs and what is wrong with them. It is best to go to a certified doctor, like an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor so they can examine you properly. Some of the tests that will determine any of your symptoms are:
  • Physical exam of the throat: An exam in which the doctor feels for swollen lymph nodes in the neck and checks for anything else that seems unusual.
  • Nasoscopy: A procedure to look inside the nose for abnormal areas.
  • Neurological exam: A series of questions and tests to check the brain, spinal cord, and nerve function.
  • MRI (magnetic resonance imaging): A procedure that uses a magnet, radio waves, and a computer to make a series of detailed pictures of areas inside the body.
  • CT scan (CAT scan): A procedure that makes a series of detailed pictures of areas inside the body, taken from different angles.
  • Laboratory tests: Medical procedures that test samples of tissue, blood, urine, or other substances in the body.
  • Biopsy: The removal of cells or tissues so they can be viewed under a microscope by a pathologist to check for signs of cancer.
I endured all of the above before, during and after my diagnosis. It was not the most comfortable thing to do but I knew that in order to save my life it was necessary.
Removal and recovery of Nasopharyngeal Cancer
So, it's time to have your cancer removed. Don't worry it's not as bad as you think and it can be done as an in office procedure. Trust me I know. The cancer is removed through your nasal passages by your doctor or Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist. The procedure can usually range from 1-2 hours depending on the size of the tumor and if your doctor has to do any other work to your nasal passages. Afterwards, your nose will be sore and swollen, but nothing on the outside can tell you had massive surgery on the inside.
You will go into your doctor every two weeks for the first two months and he/she will remove the scabs left from healing after the surgery. They make sure you are numb on the inside so you don't feel a thing.
My cancer was caught as a stage one cancer and I am so thankful. I had 7 weeks of radiation, which was not bad but it felt like forever. I endured first degree burns and still have some scars, which I call battle scars to remember what I had been through. But I would do it again if I had to. Depending on the size of your cancer will determine how long you will need to have radiation and or chemotherapy. Because mine was caught early I was fortunate to only have radiation.
Life after Nasopharyngeal Cancer
Life has been great for me and for others who have survived this cancer. You have to keep your wits about yourself and be thankful for those who are around you. A Great family/friend and or stranger support is always needed in situations like this. I never heard of this cancer until I was diagnosed with it myself. It is always good to do research to find out all you can once you are diagnosed. I didn't have any symptoms that were listed when I found out I even had this cancer. If I didn't have sinus issues, I would probably still have this cancer growing inside of me and that is a scary feeling.
Well, I hope this information helps someone else, family or friend out there with this disease. If you catch and treat it early your survival rate will increase. I myself, on the other hand will be celebrating being 5 years of being in remission this coming May!
To all those who are still in the fight from any type of cancer, keep being the positive influence and never give up. To those we have lost in the struggle, we are still here fighting for a cure!
Cheers to all!

Discover 4 Trusty Secrets To Increase Employee Engagement

Engagement Levels Are On The Mend
How is your staff doing their jobs? Are they deeply enthusiastic and involved in what they do, and their output actually rallies around the growth and objectives of your business? These sort of employees are actively engaged employees. In contrast, actively disengaged workers feel emotionally cut off from their jobs and the workplace, subsequently harming the company's performance. Somewhere in between, there are simply "not engaged" employees who are fairly satisfied with the work they do, but are not emotionally attached to it. Their performance doesn't go above and beyond in propping up the organization.
Gallup did constant research and found that employee engagement levels have improved from 2009 at the depths of the Great Recession on to 2012. Amongst all occupations, employees' involvement and commitment to their jobs was on the mend, but not with a huge difference. In 2009, data showed that 28% of workers were engaged, dashing up a tad to 30% in 2012. One in five (18%) of employees tallied to being actively disengaged, with the rest of the working population categorized as "not engaged".
What Group Is Most Engaged?
Managers and executives reckoned to be the group that enjoyed the most engagement, and indicated the most growth in engagement as well. From 2009, engagement levels for this group hurtled 10%, now scoring 36%.
The least engaged employees are in the manufacturing and transportation sector, baring no signs of improvement from 2009. Engagement levels dropped only for service operatives, plunging by 3%.
Varying trends of engagement levels for different occupations are attributed to several factors. Gallup theorizes that tough economy might have inspired managers and executives to work harder and become better leaders. Moreover, this group also tends to feel more secure in their jobs than lower level employees.
Consumers exercise discretionary spending because of the recession, consequently impacting service industries. Posited in a tough spot, service workers become demotivated, the group that, more than any other, feels that their opinions don't matter at work.
4 Techniques To Improve Employee Engagement
What are some underlying drivers of employee engagement?
  1. Knowing that you can direct and influence what you do at work boosts your engagement level, a key feature that executives enjoy. In your work culture, you can implement ways to make employees gain autonomy of what they do. Rather than being fussy with instructions, encourage creativity and out of the box thinking. You might be surprised of the novel ideas that your staff can come up with.

  2. Is open communication encouraged in your organization? Get your employees involved by asking for their inputs and opinions, and if practicable, act on them.

  3. Is your business evolving? To thrive and to survive means your organization should evolve. A separate Gallup poll found that engagement levels increase in companies that are hiring. Manager and execs are particularly exhibit higher engagement knowing that their teams are getting the help they need during the recession.

  4. Focus on the leaders and managers in your organization. Engagement, motivation and commitment in an organization is a "trickle down" process. Highly engaged managers and supervisors motivate employees to be more committed to their jobs.

Tips For Providing Encouragement For Cancer Patients

More and more cancer patients are finding themselves finishing their original course of treatment only to have their doctor recommend they continue on with some form of adjunct therapy. Discouragement can easily set in when you find yourself in the midst of an extended cancer journey. Indeed - as the weeks extend into months and sometimes into years, it is often nearly impossible to "keep your chin up".
Shortly before the turn of the 21st century, there was a great shift in the reasoning behind administering oral chemotherapy as an adjunct treatment following intravenously administered chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Before that time, cancer protocols that included oral chemotherapy were primarily for those with metastatic cancer. I am not qualified to explain, agree or debate the reasoning that led to this shift and, more importantly, that is not what I want to write about in this article. You can find some good information on this subject and I would encourage you to avail yourself of this information if your doctor is suggesting oral chemotherapy.
It is important to understand that due to the additional time your body is subjected to chemotherapy drugs, you may find some of the conditions you are already experiencing exacerbated - or at the least continuing.
I believe the most important issue to address in this short article is the emotional side of an extended visit. Your body, mind and spirit have been through a lot these past months and you want a reprieve. I remember telling God, when I was on my personal cancer journey, that I was tired of learning life lessons and I wanted summer vacation! So, how do you continue on, strong in mind and spirit during this next leg of your journey for the sake of your body?
First, I would advise you to rely on God for daily strength. Read Psalm 23 on a regular basis... it will be encouraging to you and point you to God. All of the rest of these tips will be greatly enhanced if you have a strong relationship with God.
  • Experience the outdoors on a regular basis to stay strong mentally and emotionally is experience. If you are too weak to take a walk or a hike around your neighborhood, have someone drive you to a spot that you know will lift your spirits such as a local park, the beach, a lake or the mountains. Pack a folding chair, water bottle, sunglasses and hat so you can enjoy the beauty. If you are on any drugs that are photosensitive (sun-sensitive) make sure you wear long sleeves, slacks and a hat. Remember light colors will reflect the sun away from you to keep you cooler and more comfortable during hot weather.

  • If the weather is inclement in your area during the time of extended treatment, watch videos of places in the world you find fascinating, exhilarating or relaxing. For me, a video of villages and vineyards along the Mediterranean will always "take me away". What pushes your buttons? Is it reading books, knitting, writing poetry, sketching or just sitting quietly with a hot cup of cocoa? Whatever it is, DO IT for your emotional health.

  • If you will be sans hair a while longer, now might be the time to be a bit wild and crazy, and purchase a wig in a different color and style! If your hair is coming back, buy some hair mascara in a couple of colors and highlight away.

  • Maybe you some new surroundings are just what you need. When I was in the middle of treatment, I found myself wanting to move. I thought a move to a town home would be good for several reasons. My wise husband told me that making such a big decision at an emotional time was not a good idea. Instead of moving, we purchased new bedroom furniture. It was wonderful for two reasons. First, I was excited about having something new and second, it provided a fresh and beautiful environment for our love life. Cancer can definitely affect your sexual desires and abilities. If your cancer is a hormone related cancer such as uterine, ovarian or breast, your image of yourself as a woman - and a sexual being, may be very different than it was prior to cancer. Your physical body may be quite different as well. Your sex life might never be the same as it was - but that does not mean it cannot be good! Once you are healthy enough to engage in intercourse new surroundings can make it exciting and fun.

  • Acupuncture can help immensely with discouragement, anxiety and panic attacks. Be certain to check with your doctor first before pursuing any alternative treatment like acupuncture.

  • Aromatherapy can be help create a calm mood. In addition to its potential benefit emotionally, aromatherapy can be useful for everything from raising low white blood counts to reducing inflammation and muscle pain to helping combat nausea. A wonderful website to check out for information on essential oils is www.youngliving.com.

  • There are a few herbs that may be helpful if you find yourself struggling with depression. Some of these are St John's Wort, Gingko (Gingko Biloba), Licorice and Ginger. Talk with your doctor if you are considering using any herbs. Although you may experience great results with herbs, they can be contraindicated or even harmful based on many other potential health issues.

  • One last thing to tell you about is a great product that will feed and nourish your new hair growth. Try is No Scary Hairy® Hair and Scalp Revival Serum. This product was developed by the young breast cancer survivor. It is available at some natural stores and online at: http://www.shoppristinebeauty.com.
Do what you can to keep your body, mind and spirit strong but also allow yourself days when you take a break - a break from it ALL. Your extended visit will, I trust, not last forever. Be gracious with yourself and allow yourself to be real with what you are feeling and thinking. It is alright to be needy. The time will come, by God's grace, when you will be whole in body.

Meet Other Like-Minded Travelers When You Stay In Budget Hotels

Some people who travel think it is important to stay in well-known, high-priced hotels. They will get luxurious beds and the complimentary turn-down service as well as room-service. They most likely will have fluffy towels and complimentary bath robes, however, what they don't get are the perks of meeting others at the free breakfast bar and the friendly check-in desk and facilities that the smaller budget hotels have.
They would see these budget hotels as a draw-back to traveling, but those who stay in these types of settings all have similar aims; get a bathroom, a bed and a good night's sleep and save the money for the sight-seeing and touristy stuff.
Their immediate needs can be taken care of in either case, a 5-star hotel or a budget hotel. Why spend the extra money?
The high rated 5-star hotels don't have the continental breakfast bar and this is where many travelers like to meet up to make new friends. Maybe it's just for a friendly chit-chat with other travelers over breakfast who you may never see again, or there is the chance you will meet someone with whom you form a life time friendship.
Many find the budget hotel more home-like, with a few of the home comforts like television and comfortable beds. Another advantage is that they are usually located in areas that are dotted with fast food restaurants and convenience stores. The 5-star hotels are usually in downtown areas where there are no fast food restaurants and they can often be on the outskirts of the big cities in developing regions.
If you are budget-minded traveler staying in these budget hotels, you are given an opportunity to meet people, because if you don't want to stay in your room by yourself, then you can go to the bar or recreation room and meet other guests.
As a budget traveler you may need to make more than one visit to the front desk and this gives you another chance to meet more people with whom you can strike up a conversation.
The budget hotels often offer discounts for multiple stays, and travelers that favor this type of lodging may very well meet up again in a different city on another stay.
Once you strike up a conversation with your fellow-travelers you may find you have even more in common and you can make arrangements to meet if you are traveling on the same route.
Travelers who stay in budget hotels are likely to have the same hobbies and interests as others in the same hotel, such as visiting markets, picnicking in the local parks, tramping and taking in the nature and beauty of the wonderful places they visit.
These are the real travelers - the people who save their money for the things that are more important to them. They really get to know the locals, the cuisine, and gain a real feel of the land and the culture. It's not just the soft bath towels and complimentary bath robes they want from their holiday!
The newly renovated Kiwi International Hotel is a friendly and affordable hotel offering budget accommodation in the heart of Auckland city. They welcome travellers, families, business people and groups looking for quality and value in a leading central city Queen Street location. Kiwi Hotel's modern facilities are second to none and they have the added bonus of free parking and business services for their guests right in central city.
